Tubby Buddies

Bathtime has gotten way more fun these days now that Sloan is getting bigger and can 'play'.

Marin loves to dump water on him.  He's so easy going, he let's her do it and giggles.
However, if he splashes her the world suddenly becomes not so fair!

When it's bathtime, Sloan starts crawling at the speed of light when he hears the water hit the tub!
As he crawls, he does a heavy breathing thing like, "Haaa-haaa-haaaa-*squeal*!"

Water is fascinating.

Marin is a great helper when she can resist dumping water on his head!

She hates getting her hair washed.  She will ask very early in the day, "Is it a hair-washing night?" just to start negotiating telling me she's 'not so stinky'.  Apparently this was a not-so-stinky night!

Another favorite tub game is howling into a cup.  Marin makes up silly voices or sings and Sloan giggles.

When these two babies are teenagers, they will hate that I made them bathe together.
I can just hear it now…."Geez mom…."

But for now, it's perfectly fun and sweet!

Meet the Teacher

Marin's schooldays have begun!

We were assigned a time at school to meet Marin's teacher and a few friends in her class at noon on a Friday.  Jason arranged his schedule so that he could come too--super Daddy!

It was nicely organized so that there were only about five students/families in the classroom at once.  We actually got some face time with Marin's teacher, Mrs. B, and had the opportunity to meet a few of her classmates and their parents.

Here are some familiar faces who will be at Marin's school, but in different classrooms.

Buster the dog wanted to come meet Marin's teacher too.  Room 7, here we come!

Her class's theme is "Wild Things."  Hopefully there won't be too much wild in there!

She was feeling a little shy before walking into her classroom.

Making a crown to wear for her birthday/half birthday.

Checking out the kitchen area.

The playground area is covered with a large tent which is so nice for the hot Texas days.
The kids get 30 minutes of recess time each day!  Yay!

It's been so fun to watch these two little girls grow into smart preschoolers!

I couldn't get a picture of Marin with her teacher since she was so apprehensive about the whole situation.  That picture will be for another post.  Overall, it was a great experience and she's all ready for her first day!

Sloan is Eight Months Old!

Our 'little' man has had a big month.  He learned to crawl just a few days shy of turning eight months.  He has been sitting up, rolling, pushing up and rocking getting ready for this big event and now it's here.  No army crawling...no 'scooting'…..just full speed ahead CRAWLING.  This creates endless opportunities for him now that he's mobile!

Eight months old with Teddy.

He's working on getting some new teeth.  So far he has four--two bottoms, two tops.IMG 8082
Ready for a change of scenery!
IMG 8085
And…we're all done here!
IMG 8087
He loves to play with these wooden blocks.  He pounds them together, sucks on them, throws them, etc.  Of course, this is a very big nuisance to  his big sister who has a hard time sharing her toys.IMG 8057
Sloan's a pretty good napper during the day generally taking a 2 hour nap in the morning and 1.5-2 hour nap in the afternoon.  He's trying to drop that dinnertime third nap which has messed up his nighttime sleep, but it seems to be getting better now.  Without his dinnertime nap, he was falling asleep around 7:30 and waking up at 10:00ish thinking that was just a 'nap' and then was staying up until 11:30 or so.  He's lucky he's so stinkin' CUTE!IMG 8062
Here's a good shot of those two top teeth--they're huge!  Just north of those two huge teeth is the gash he put in his lip pulling up on the train table and then crashing down.  Poor baby…I'm guessing this won't be his last war wound.

He's pulling up on anything he can find…dresser knobs included.IMG 8189

In motion….

Off to find something else...
IMG 8212
like the DOG!!  He loves Parker!  Jason & I think Sloan's first sign will be 'dog.'  He gets so excited when he sees Parker and when we ask, "Where's Parker?" Sloan starts smiling and looking around.

We love this age/stage…it's so much fun to watch our sweet baby learning something new each day and loving every minute of it.  We are having the Ma-ma/Da-da war right now.  Sloan is really close to uttering his first words…I'm hoping for a big, loud MA-MA soon!  :)

Birthday-Take Two

Marin has been in love with the Cat in the Hat for this past year, so it wasn't a surprise when she decided that she wanted a Cat in the Hat birthday party.  So, we had a Cat in the Hat meets giant Slip n' Slide party.  The slip n' slide was a big hit and all of the kids got to play on it for about an hour before the sky opened up and POURED rain!  That didn't stop our fun though!
It was a great day that we shared with our dear friends and even cousin Lily and her mommy and daddy made the long trip from Dallas--in the rain!  Thanks for helping Marin celebrate her big day!  It was a blast!

Marin was a little (a lot?) reluctant about the big slide at first, but once she took a few turns with Daddy, she couldn't get enough!

Sloan hung out in the swing and watched all of the action.  The dimples on his left cheek kill me...I could eat him!  :)

Birthday-Take 1

Marin came running downstairs on her birthday ready to go to the 'Donut Shopper' and open gifts.  She loves to go get donuts and go to Starbucks with her daddy on the weekends and special occasions.

She's getting to be such a big girl!

She got a new pair of ballet shoes, a new 'lovey' pillow, Husker gear, clothes, books about going to preschool, gum (her favorite gift!!) and...

the interactive Dinosaur Train dinos!

These crazy dinos talk to each other and the more dinos you have, the more they say.
Brilliant marketing.

Later in the day we tried to go bowling, but when we got to the bowling alley, the music was pumping loudly, the lights were flashing and that was more than she bargained for.  So, we ended up just playing the arcade games.

We had dinner and cake with friends later in the day.  Even Sloany got in on a little bit of the celebration!

Here he is hanging out in his pack 'n play and he just wanted OUT!
He gave us quite a laugh pressing his face against the mesh and 'hollering' at us!

Happy Birthday, Big Sis!  We love you!
